Leh, Aug 28: The University of Ladakh’s Department of Commerce, in collaboration with National Securities Depository Limited, conducted a one-day Smart Investor Awareness Program on the theme Financial Wisdom at its Leh campus. The initiative aimed to enhance financial literacy and encourage informed investment decisions among faculty members and students.
The session began with the felicitation of guest expert Mr. Sabzar Ahmad, a certified trainer with SEBI and NSDL. Taking the audience through the dynamics of money management, he highlighted the importance of financial planning, safe investment strategies, and vigilance against fraudulent schemes that often mislead investors.
Covering topics ranging from the basics of financial markets to the protective role of SEBI, the deliberations also stressed diversification, risk management, and avenues available for retail investors. Investor rights and responsibilities were explained in detail, equipping participants with practical insights into navigating the financial landscape.
The interactive Q&A session that followed featured lively exchanges, with attendees seeking guidance on real-life investment choices. Many described the discussion as an eye-opener that would inspire them to approach financial decisions with greater confidence.
Concluding the program, Dr. Jigmet Stobdan, Coordinator of the Department of Commerce, delivered a vote of thanks and commended the initiative as a step towards fostering financial awareness within the academic community.
