Leh, Oct 10: The University of Ladakh has declared Saturday an official working day at its Leh Campus for the ongoing academic session 2025–2026, as part of a temporary arrangement to compensate for academic time lost during recent forced closures.
The announcement follows an office order issued by the Office of the Dean, Academic Affairs, after a meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor with faculty members. The meeting focused on measures to ensure timely completion of the semester syllabus and to maintain the continuity of academic activities.
According to the directive, both teaching and non-teaching staff at the Leh Campus will observe Saturday as a regular working day until further notice. The move, approved by the competent authority, aims to prevent any disruption in the semester schedule and to align with the revised academic calendar.
Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. Subrat Sharma, underscored the importance of coordinated efforts across departments to implement the revised plan efficiently. He stressed that the university’s priority remains the academic welfare of its students.
University officials said the decision is part of a broader strategy to safeguard academic progress and ensure that students do not face disadvantages due to earlier closures. Faculty members have welcomed the move, describing it as a pragmatic step toward maintaining academic rigour and timely course completion.
