New Delhi, Dec 18: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has predicted the end of poverty in the future, stating there will be “universal high income” and no need for people to save money.
Musk made the comment on X while replying to investor Ray Dalio, who praised the Trump administration’s “Trump Accounts” program aimed at building financial literacy among young Americans. Dalio highlighted the bipartisan effort, supported by Michael and Susan Dell, to teach market operations and money management for a stronger economy. Musk called it a “nice gesture” but dismissed the need, saying advancements in AI and robotics will eliminate scarcity.
Musk has repeatedly claimed AI and robotics will make work optional within 10-20 years, comparing it to playing sports or video games. At events like the Viva Technology conference and U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum, he argued money will become “irrelevant” as productivity surges, ensuring no shortages of goods or services. He envisions Tesla’s Optimus robots driving this shift, though skeptics question timelines and scalability
