Pahalgam, May 16: Two tourists from Gujarat were killed and two others injured after a Tavera vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge while travelling from Pahalgam to Aru in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
Officials said the vehicle, bearing registration number JK21A-0379, was being driven by Rayees Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, a resident of Rangward Laripora.
The deceased were identified as Bawin Bhavsar, son of Mahesh Bhavsar, who was brought dead to Sub-District Hospital Pahalgam, and his wife Awni Bhavsar, who later succumbed to injuries after sustaining severe trauma to her left leg.
The injured tourists were identified as Naina Ben, wife of Ashok Bhai, and Ashok Bhai, both residents of Gujarat. Officials said the injured are undergoing treatment and are being referred for advanced medical care.
The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries in the accident and has been shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for treatment.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway.
