Doda, July 1: Two cloudbursts struck the Kalalgisar area of Bhalessa in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday following heavy rainfall, triggering flash floods and massive debris flows that blocked several roads and disrupted connectivity to several villages.
Officials said continuous heavy rain has worsened the situation, prompting authorities to closely monitor vulnerable areas amid fears of additional landslides and further road blockages.
The flash floods deposited large volumes of debris on key routes, cutting off access to multiple villages in the Bhalessa region. Officials said road clearance and restoration work will begin as soon as weather conditions become safe for operations.
The district administration has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel in landslide-prone areas and strictly adhere to official advisories until road connectivity is fully restored.
