Leh, May 02 : A delegation representing the Trans-Singela Area Villages Joint Committee called on former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the BJP-led LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, and expressed support for the recent Gazette Notification on newly created districts, particularly the inclusion of their villages within Leh district.
Led by former Deputy Commandant Konchok Norboo, the delegation said the decision reflected the long-articulated aspirations of residents in the Trans-Singela region. They acknowledged Gyalson’s role in facilitating the inclusion, noting that the move aligns administrative boundaries with local sentiment and geographic realities.
Members of the delegation, including Ven. Lama Chokzin, senior political functionary Tashi Dorjai, and other community representatives, also referred to the pace of development in the Lingshed constituency during Gyalson’s tenure, citing improvements in infrastructure and outreach to remote habitations.
The visiting group further conveyed appreciation to the Union leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, for addressing demands linked to administrative reorganisation in the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by village heads and committee members, who reiterated that remaining within Leh district would ensure administrative accessibility and continuity in development initiatives. They maintained that the reorganisation offers a framework for improved governance in sparsely populated and geographically challenging areas.
The interaction comes amid ongoing administrative recalibration in Ladakh following the notification of new districts, with local bodies and community groups increasingly engaging with political leadership to shape the implementation of these changes on the ground.
