Totality—when the Moon fully enters Earth’s shadow—runs from 4:34 pm to 5:33 pm IST, with a magnitude of 1.155 for a deep eclipse. In India, it coincides with moonrise: Shimla sees the Moon rise at 6:21 pm, catching the umbral phase’s tail end for about 27 minutes. North-East India and Andaman & Nicobar Islands get even more of the show, including totality’s close.
