JAMMU, JULY 4 : The third batch of pilgrims undertaking the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Saturday morning, with 4,812 devotees proceeding to Kashmir in two separate convoys, officials said.
The latest batch comprises 966 women pilgrims, who will travel to the holy cave shrine via the twin routes of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district.
The pilgrimage gained momentum after its commencement on Friday, with more than 12,000 devotees offering prayers at the 3,880-metre-high Amarnath cave shrine on the opening day of the 57-day annual yatra.
Authorities have put in place extensive security and logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth and safe movement of pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage season.
