Dubai, Feb 7: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated talks with the International Cricket Council (ICC) amid speculation of a potential reversal on its earlier reservations regarding the 2026 T20 World Cup co-hosting arrangement with India and Sri Lanka.
Facing mounting pressure from financial implications and bilateral cricket isolation, PCB sources indicate exploratory discussions to resolve the logjam per the tournament’s Terms of Participation. The shift follows PCB’s initial demand for guaranteed India-Pakistan matches at neutral venues, which clashed with ICC’s India hosting plans.
A PCB official confirmed “dialogue has begun” to explore workable solutions, potentially including revenue assurances and hybrid models. The tournament, expanded to 20 teams across three hosts, remains scheduled for January-February 2026.
India’s BCCI holds firm on home rights, but sources suggest PCB flexibility if logistical and security concerns are addressed. Official confirmation awaits further negotiations.
