New Delhi Mar 10: India’s Supreme Court on Tuesday mandated the Centre to roll out a no-fault compensation scheme for serious adverse events linked to Covid-19 vaccinations.
Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta upheld the current monitoring system for immunisation side effects, ruling no need for a new court-picked expert panel.
Speaking for the bench, Justice Nath stressed that existing scientific checks suffice, while leaving room for other legal remedies and clarifying no admission of liability by the government.
The ruling addressed petitions, including claims that two women died in 2021 from severe reactions after their first Covishield dose.
