New Delhi, Nov 3: The Supreme Court on Tuesday postponed the hearing on petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, to January 21, 2027.
A bench comprising Justices M. M. Sundresh and P. B. Varale directed all parties involved in the case to complete their pleadings by December 31, 2026.
The bench also permitted applicants who had earlier filed interlocutory applications and were directed to be treated in that capacity to file separate writ petitions within two weeks.
The court directed that copies of the petitions be served on the nodal counsel, who was asked to compile the judgments relied upon by the petitioners.
It further asked the Additional Solicitor General to respond to the written submissions filed in the matter.
Directing the completion of pleadings by December 31, the bench scheduled the next hearing for January 21, 2027.
