Kargil, Jan 08: SSP Kargil Nitin Yadav led a flag-in ceremony on Wednesday at District Police Lines Kargil to welcome back a group of 25 students returning from a tour to Gujarat. The students had travelled to Rajkot district to attend the 25th Rashtriya Katha Shivir and arrived back in the Union Territory after nine days of learning and exposure.
The tour had begun on December 24 when the students were sent off to join the 25th Rashtriya Katha Shivir at Pansla village in Rajkot district.
The group landed safely at Leh Airport earlier in the morning and later travelled to Kargil, where officers of Ladakh Police received them and hosted a reception in the conference hall of the police lines. Police informed that all students were well and in good health, after which they were reunited with their parents and guardians within the premises.
During the programme, the students recalled their experiences at the national camp and described their interactions with participants arriving from different corners of the country. They also spoke about listening to noted speakers who addressed the gathering and inspired students at the Shivir.
SSP Kargil Nitin Yadav praised the students for their discipline, teamwork and behaviour throughout the journey. He said the exposure was a learning opportunity for young minds, stressing that seeing new places builds knowledge and widens understanding. He further noted that such initiatives help students observe life beyond the mountains of Ladakh.
The tour was arranged by Ladakh Police for meritorious students from schools and colleges of the district, sending them from the cold high altitude of Kargil to the warmer plains of Gujarat. Officers said the idea was to introduce the students to the cultural and geographical range of the country and build a sense of belonging among the young generation.
A feedback form was handed out to all participants for recording their impressions, which will help plan similar programmes ahead. Parents expressed joy at the safe return of the group and thanked Ladakh Police, especially the district chief, for giving their children a chance to travel and learn. The event wrapped up with tea and light refreshments, marking the smooth end of the visit.
