Ramban, Dec 27: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Arun Gupta on Saturday said that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place at Patnitop and Sanasar in view of the upcoming New Year celebrations and the expected influx of tourists.

SSP Arun Gupta made these remarks while chairing a high-level security review meeting to assess preparedness for the anticipated surge in visitor footfall during the New Year carnival being organised by the Tourism Department in coordination with the Patnitop Development Authority.

During the meeting, officers conducted a detailed assessment of arrangements related to crowd regulation, traffic control, area patrolling, surveillance, and emergency response mechanisms in and around both tourist destinations. The SSP stressed that police deployment should ensure a peaceful atmosphere while also facilitating smooth and hassle-free movement of visitors.

Inputs from various intelligence and security agencies were reviewed, with discussions focusing on threat perception and operational readiness. Emphasis was laid on strengthening coordination among all agencies, ensuring real-time sharing of information, and maintaining readiness to deal with any untoward situation.

SSP Arun Gupta directed officers to maintain heightened vigilance with visible police presence at entry and exit points, parking areas, tourist locations, and event venues. He also ordered the establishment of joint checkpoints in coordination with Doda and Udhampur district police to monitor movement across district boundaries.

The meeting was attended by senior officers from CRPF units, Army formations including Rashtriya Rifles, district police, traffic police, CID Special Branch, and central intelligence agencies.

Reiterating the commitment of Ramban Police, SSP Arun Gupta said that close coordination with central armed police forces, the Army, and intelligence agencies will continue to ensure the safety of tourists and the maintenance of public order during the New Year festivities in the district.
