Srinagar, May 20 : Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Tuesday demolished an illegally constructed property worth around ₹1.5 crore allegedly linked to a wanted drug peddler in the Lal Bazar area.
Officials said Police Station Lal Bazar carried out the demolition of a two-storey illegal structure along with an adjoining room and washroom built on state land at Haka Bazar, Lal Bazar.
According to police, the property, spread over nearly nine marlas, was linked to wanted drug peddler Arshid Ahmed Sheikh, son of Wali Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Haka Bazar, Lal Bazar, who is allegedly involved in multiple NDPS Act cases.
The accused is named in FIR No. 31/2025 under Sections 8/21 and 22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Janipur, Jammu, and FIR No. 50/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Lal Bazar.
The demolition was carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate Khanyar and officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Authorities said the action was taken strictly as per legal provisions to dismantle illegal assets linked to the narcotics trade.
Police confirmed that the operation was conducted peacefully under proper supervision.
Reiterating its commitment, Srinagar Police said efforts will continue to eliminate the drug menace and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information on drug-related activities.
