SRINAGAR, May 30: In a major action against narcotics networks under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police have attached immovable properties worth nearly ₹2 crore belonging to individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
Police said the action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of efforts to dismantle the financial infrastructure sustaining the illegal drug trade in the Valley.
In one case, Police Station Bemina attached assets worth approximately ₹1.5 crore belonging to alleged drug peddler Mudasir Ahmad Pir, also known as Sahil and Doge, a resident of Firdous Colony, Bemina. The attachment was carried out under Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act after approval from the Competent Authority under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA), Government of India.
The attached property includes a double-storey residential house and around four marlas of land located in Firdous Colony. According to police, investigations revealed that the assets were allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking.
In a separate action, Srinagar Police attached a residential house along with land valued at nearly ₹50 lakh belonging to alleged drug peddler Shafiq Ahmad Khawaja, a resident of Dildar Karnah in Kupwara district. The attachment was executed under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 10/2024 registered at Police Station M.R. Gunj.
Police stated that both attachments were carried out after following due legal procedures and establishing that the properties were linked to proceeds of drug-related activities.
Officials said the move reflects the police’s commitment to targeting the economic foundations of narcotics networks by identifying and confiscating assets allegedly generated through illegal drug trade.
Reaffirming its resolve to build a drug-free society, Srinagar Police urged citizens to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by sharing information about drug peddling and narcotics-related activities in their areas.
