Srinagar, April 29 : In a brazen case of fraud and human trafficking, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Srinagar of Crime Branch Kashmir has registered a case against a fake job consultancy.
The complaint reveals that a man from Pattan was lured by an unauthorized agency promising a high-paying computer operator job abroad. He transferred a large sum to the operator’s bank account and spent more on travel and preparations.
Upon reaching Cambodia, unknown individuals received him but forced him into online fraudulent activities instead of providing the job. He refused, escaped, and realized he’d been scammed.
Preliminary probe points to offences under Section 318(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A formal case is now registered at EOW Srinagar Police Station, with investigation ongoing.
