Srinagar, Mar 12: Just when Farooq Abdullah dodged a gunman in Jammu, a Srinagar court dropped another bombshell—a non-bailable warrant (NBW) in the long-running JKCA cricket scam case. The Chief Judicial Magistrate rejected his lawyer’s plea for a pass since he was stuck in Jammu post-attack, even offering Zoom as an option.
The CBI chargesheet nails Farooq and others under RPC sections for criminal conspiracy (120-B), criminal breach of trust (406), plus 409—alleged financial fiddling at the Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association. Back on March 2, the court greenlit framing charges; today’s hearing was for that step, plus approver statements.
Lawyers said Farooq couldn’t make it physically or virtually. Court wasn’t having it: “Application rejected. Issue NBW.” Next date: March 30.
Talk about a rough week for the NC chief—from wedding shooter to courtroom heat.
