SRINAGAR, Oct 5: Police have arrested six suspected drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession, officials said on Monday.
A police spokesperson said the arrests were made as part of the ongoing drive against drug trafficking in the district.
Police Station Srigufwara apprehended Khursheed Ahmad Nengroo and recovered 70 grams of charas from his possession, the spokesperson said.
In a separate operation, Bijbehara police arrested Ubaid Majeed Shah and recovered 15 grams of charas from his possession.
During checking at Wozpan, police apprehended Mohammad Shameem Das and recovered 15 grams of charas, officials said.
Bijbehara police also arrested Muneeb Ahmad Ganie and recovered 14 grams of charas from his possession.
In another action at Chee Tarbal, police apprehended Zubair Ahmad Palla and Danish Mushtaq following the recovery of 3.7 grams of heroin and Rs 11,800 in cash from their possession.
Police said cases have been registered in connection with the recoveries and further investigation is underway.
