Moscow, Feb 8: At least six people, including an Indian student, and two police officers were injured in a stabbing rampage at a foreign students’ hostel in Russia’s Bashkortostan Republic on Saturday, local media reported.
A 15-year-old armed with a knife entered the dormitory at Ufa’s State Medical University, attacking residents before resisting arrest and stabbing two officers. The suspect also injured himself and was hospitalized in serious condition at a children’s facility, per the Baza Telegram channel.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Maj Gen Irina Volk stated: “The attacker resisted arrest, during which two police officers were stabbed. Furthermore, the suspect also inflicted bodily harm on himself.” Eyewitness accounts via Telegram’s ‘112’ channel confirmed at least one Indian victim and suggested two attackers, though official reports specify one.
Four students and the two officers were admitted to a local clinical hospital. “There was blood all around,” eyewitnesses told Ren TV, with footage showing ambulances rushing the wounded. The Investigative Committee has opened a probe into the incident.
