Nubra, Mar 12: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Ladakh, Rahul Sharma, on Thursday reviewed preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls during a virtual meeting with election officials in Nubra Sub-Division.
The review session was conducted online, while officials assembled at the Conference Hall of the SDM Office Complex in Diskit.
Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) Sumoor, Tashi Jorgais, joined the meeting virtually, while AERO Diskit, Tufail Iqbal, attended the proceedings at the venue.
The meeting was attended by four Booth Level Officer (BLO) Supervisors from Diskit Tehsil and two from Sumoor Tehsil, along with 69 Booth Level Officers representing various polling areas across the Nubra Sub-Division.
During the interaction, the Chief Electoral Officer reviewed the current status and progress of the Electoral Rolls and underlined the need for maintaining updated and accurate voter lists to uphold the integrity of the democratic process.
Officials were encouraged to present their concerns and highlight operational issues related to the Special Intensive Revision process.
Addressing the gathering, AERO Diskit Tufail Iqbal held detailed discussions on the revision exercise and stressed the need to ensure inclusion of all eligible voters. He also highlighted the need to remove ineligible entries, identify invalid voter identification records, and correct discrepancies in the voter database.
Issues and challenges raised by the Booth Level Officers during the meeting were also discussed and addressed.
The review concluded with directions to concerned officials and departments to ensure timely completion of all activities related to the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls across the Nubra Sub-Division.
