Kargil, Jan 22: Sheikh Gowhar Hussain, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kargil, on Thursday chaired a coordination meeting to finalise arrangements for the national celebration with regard to the Republic Day 2026. The meeting was convened in his office chamber and aimed at ensuring smooth conduct of the January 26 event at the Court Complex, Kargil.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the Chief Judicial Magistrate Kargil, Additional Superintendent of Police Kargil, President of the Bar Association Kargil, a representative from the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Information Officer Kargil, Executive Engineers from the R&B Division, Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE), besides an official from the Municipal Committee Kargil.
During the deliberations, various aspects related to security, civic amenities, logistics and media coverage were discussed in detail. Officers from all concerned departments shared their views and suggestions, which were examined to ensure proper coordination and timely execution of assigned responsibilities.
It was decided that the Ceremony Guard and Band Party will be arranged by the Police Department, while the National Flag will be provided by the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil. The Information Department Kargil will handle coverage of the ceremony and ensure adequate publicity through print and electronic media.
The Municipal Committee Kargil was directed to ensure cleanliness and sanitation at the venue. The PHE Department Kargil will provide sufficient water supply, while decoration of the Court Complex will be carried out by the PWD and PDD departments. Refreshments for the occasion will be arranged by the R&B Division Kargil.
Chairing the meeting, Sheikh Gowhar Hussain underlined the importance of inter-departmental coordination and collective responsibility to ensure that Republic Day is observed in a smooth, orderly and dignified manner in Kargil.
