JAMMU, Jan 14: Security forces have intensified a major search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district following reports of terrorist movement in the dense Najote forests of Billawar tehsil.
The operation gained momentum after locals spotted suspicious activity just 10 km from the January 7 Kamadah Nallah encounter site where ultras had escaped. Troops encountered gunfire Tuesday afternoon as they advanced, prompting a robust retaliation while tightening the cordon.
Anti-terror operations across Jammu’s rugged terrain, forests, and remote areas have accelerated ahead of Republic Day celebrations, reflecting heightened security measures amid recent Pakistani drone intrusions along the LoC.
