Jammu Jan 9 : Security forces launched extensive search operations across multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Friday following reports of suspicious movement in the area, officials said.
The operation was initiated after local residents reported sighting a suspicious-looking individual carrying what appeared to be a weapon in the Katli area of the district. Acting swiftly on the information, security agencies mobilized teams to conduct thorough searches in the region.
A joint team comprising personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG), district police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was deployed to carry out an intensive search-and-combing operation in the forest areas of Sidhra, located on the outskirts of Jammu city. The forces conducted a meticulous sweep of the area to track down any suspicious elements.
In a parallel operation, the Indian Army in coordination with police launched a joint checking campaign in the strategically important Meera Sahib border area of Jammu district. Security personnel set up multiple checkpoints and conducted thorough searches.
“The operation continued throughout the night, with security personnel meticulously checking every vehicle passing through the area. These operations are being conducted amid ongoing anti-terror operations in the Jammu division, with overall security arrangements significantly stepped up across the region,” officials said.
They added that these comprehensive security measures form part of the overall preparedness plan to ensure peaceful and incident-free Republic Day celebrations. The heightened security deployment comes as the nation prepares for the Republic Day functions on January 26, with authorities leaving no stone unturned to thwart any potential security threats.
