Nubra, Mar 25: Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Jigmet Raftan (JKAS), on Tuesday carried out inspections of several government schools across the sub-division, reviewing academic performance, infrastructure and administrative efficiency.
The inspection covered Government Higher Secondary School Sumoor, Government High School Panamik and Government Middle School Tongsted, where the SDM, accompanied by Tehsildar Sumoor Tashi Jorgais, interacted with students and teaching staff to assess classroom engagement and the quality of education being delivered.
During the visits, officials evaluated students’ academic progress while teachers apprised the administration of ongoing academic activities and challenges. The SDM also examined the availability and condition of essential facilities to ensure that institutions are maintaining a conducive learning environment.
The inspection forms part of ongoing administrative monitoring aimed at ensuring that schools in Nubra meet expected academic and infrastructural standards.
Earlier, the SDM, along with Tehsildar Disket Tufail Iqbal (JKAS), conducted an extensive visit to educational institutions in the border areas of the Turtuk region, including Higher Secondary School Bogdang, Higher Secondary School Turtuk, Higher Secondary School Tyakshi and Middle School Thang.
During the tour, interactions were held with school faculty and School Management Committees to understand the academic environment, infrastructure status and operational challenges faced by these institutions. Emphasis was laid on improving the quality of education and strengthening institutional functioning in remote border areas.
Issues related to punctuality and attendance of teaching staff were also noted. The SDM directed Heads of Institutions to enforce strict attendance norms and submit detailed reports on staff attendance.
The SDM also met village representatives from Tyakshi and Turtuk, who raised various local and developmental concerns. The issues were recorded for further action and follow-up with the concerned departments.
The inspection drive reflects continued administrative focus on monitoring education delivery and addressing on-ground challenges in far-flung areas of Nubra.
