JAMMU: Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu has registered a case against Puneet Singh S/o Rajinder Singh R/o Upper Gadi Garh, Jammu for allegedly cheating a local resident on the pretext of arranging a study visa to Australia.
As per the complaint lodged, the accused collected a total of Rs 3,58,040/- in multiple online transactions between July to October 2025 on the promise of securing an Australian study visa.
The complainant alleged that the accused called him to Delhi on the basis of a
fraudulent biometric/office letter, which was later found to be fake. The accused is currently reported to be residing in Sydney, Australia and has been avoiding repayment despite repeated requests.
Preliminary verification prima facie established the offence of cheating. A case under Section 318(4) BNS has been registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Jammu set into motion.
SCW Jammu advises citizens to verify credentials of visa agents and remain cautious of fake offer letters and biometric documents.
