JAMMU: The Special Crime Wing (SCW), Crime Branch Jammu, filed a charge-sheet on 03.10.2026, against Lalit Sharma S/o Surinder Sharma, R/o Nai Basti Rangpur, R.S. Pura, Jammu, proprietor of M/s Kalika Education Consultant and M/s Knight Rider Consultant, in FIR No. 02/2025 of PS SCW Jammu, under Section 420 IPC, before the Hon’ble Special Municipal Court, Jammu.
The case was registered on complaints alleging that the accused had collected money from several persons on the assurance of arranging work visas for abroad, particularly Canada, but failed to provide the promised visas or refund the amounts.
During investigation, statements of complainants and witnesses were recorded and bank records and other documentary evidence were examined. Investigation established that ₹37.94 lakh had been received from the complainants/victims through bank transactions and cash payments.
On the basis of the evidence collected, the offence under Section 420 IPC was found established and accordingly charge-sheet was presented before the competent court for judicial determination.
The public is advised to exercise utmost caution while dealing with visa/immigration consultants. Verify the credentials and registration of agencies, insist on proper agreements and receipts, avoid handing over money without verification, and independently verify visa/job offers through official channels. Any suspected fraud should be promptly reported to the Police.
