Middle School Leh merged with GGHSS Leh under NEP 2020
Leh, Oct 17: In a move aimed at streamlining school education under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Middle School (MS) Leh has been merged with the Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Leh. The merger was formalized in the presence of Administrative Secretary, Department of School Education, Leh, Bhanu Prabha, IAS, marking a major step towards integrated academic management in the district.
As part of the ongoing school rationalization process, several other schools across Leh district have also been merged with nearby higher and senior secondary institutions. The initiative seeks to ensure efficient resource utilization, improved academic coordination, and enhanced learning outcomes for students.
Officials said that the merger of MS Leh with GGHSS Leh will enable students to benefit from qualified faculty, improved infrastructure, and a wider range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities. The rationalization drive is aligned with the NEP’s objective of forming school complexes and clusters to foster resource sharing and inclusive education.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary Bhanu Prabha described the reform as a forward-looking step towards realizing the goals of NEP 2020. She commended local education authorities for their efforts in promoting quality and equity in the district’s education system.
Chief Education Officer (CEO), Leh, lauded the cooperation of school heads and teaching staff in ensuring the smooth implementation of the merger. He noted that the move will lead to better academic coordination and improved opportunities for both students and teachers.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Kunzang Dolma, Principal of GGHSS Leh, who expressed gratitude to the Department of School Education and all participants for their support. She reiterated the school’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence, discipline, and innovation in line with NEP 2020.
The Department reaffirmed its resolve to pursue structural and academic reforms aimed at strengthening the education system and ensuring accessible, inclusive, and high-quality education for every child in Leh district.
