New Delhi, March 23: The Supreme Court on Monday disposed of a petition by Gitanjali J Angmo, wife of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, challenging his detention under the National Security Act (NSA), after noting the Centre had revoked the order on March 14.
A bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and PB Varale observed there was “nothing left in the matter” following the revocation, nearly six months after Wangchuk’s arrest on September 26, 2025.
The detention stemmed from violent Leh protests demanding Ladakh statehood and Sixth Schedule protections, which left four dead and over 45 injured, including 22 policemen. The apex court had earlier urged the government to reconsider due to his health.
