New Delhi/Leh, Sept 20: An interfaith conference marking the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji brought together religious leaders from across traditions at the ICAR Convention Centre, Pusa Campus, on Wednesday. The event, organized by the Government of NCT of Delhi in association with the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, paid tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and his companions—Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji—for their sacrifice in defense of truth, justice, and freedom of faith.
Representing the Buddhist community, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena attended the gathering and joined distinguished leaders in recalling Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s legacy. In his address, he offered homage to Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, observing that the Guru’s life “reminds us that true courage is not in domination, but in compassion; not in enforcing one’s belief, but in defending another’s right to their belief.”
The conference was attended by Cabinet Ministers of Delhi, Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Kapil Mishra, alongside Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sabney, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), and former MP Sardar Tarlochan Singh. Eminent voices from multiple faiths enriched the dialogue, including Singh Sahib Gilani Raghbir Singh Ji, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati Ji, Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni Ji, Goswami Sushil Ji, Haji Syed Salman Chishty, Ravinder Pandita Ji, Rabbi Ezekiel Isaac Malekar, Rajyogini Dr. Binny Sareen, Dr. Anil Joseph Thomas Couto, and Swami Bhavyatej Ji on behalf of H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Ahead of the deliberations, the leaders offered prayers at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, paying respects to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji while invoking peace, harmony, and collective welfare.
The day-long conference concluded with a pledge from all participants to foster dialogue, respect, and unity across religious communities, reaffirming Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s enduring message of sacrifice and human dignity.
