Barking dog seldom bites: Gaurav on Pakistan’s provocative threats

JAMMU: Opening his strong response, BJP Spokesperson and Convenor, International Affairs, Gaurav Gupta said, “A barking dog seldom bites—but Pakistan has barked many times and has repeatedly received a strong response from India.”

Reacting to the recent irresponsible and provocative statement by Pakistan’s Defence Minister threatening to target camps of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Gupta said that such remarks reflect “a dangerous mix of desperation, delusion, and diversionary tactics by a failing state.”

“Khayaal achha hai… par sirf sapno mein hi theek lagta hai,” he remarked, adding that Pakistan’s leadership continues to live in illusion. “Attacking India is not a film script. It requires capability, credibility, and consequences—something Pakistan must remember since Independence.”

Gupta underlined that India has, time and again, demonstrated both its restraint and decisive strength when provoked. He cited the 2016 Surgical Strike carried out across the Line of Control and the 2019 Balakot Airstrike deep inside Pakistani territory as clear, documented examples of India’s willingness to act firmly in defence of its sovereignty. He also referred to Operation Sindoor as part of India’s evolving and resolute security approach against cross-border threats.

He further emphasized that the leadership of India’s armed forces has repeatedly and unequivocally stated that any misadventure by Pakistan will invite a heavy and unaffordable cost. “This is not rhetoric but a clear strategic doctrine backed by capability. Pakistan must think not once, but twice and thrice before making such reckless statements,” Gupta asserted.

Highlighting the contrast between the two nations, Gupta said, “While Pakistan indulges in hollow rhetoric and war-mongering statements, India believes in action when required. The global community has already witnessed this difference.”

Taking a sharp dig at Pakistan’s internal condition, Gupta termed it a “bhookha-nanga desh” grappling with severe economic crisis, political instability, and growing international isolation. He said such statements are often timed to divert attention from domestic failures and to fuel unnecessary tensions in the region.

Gupta also urged the international community to take serious cognizance of such irresponsible threats, noting that targeting a socio-cultural organization like the RSS reflects a dangerous expansion of hostile intent beyond conventional military frameworks.

Reaffirming India’s position, he stated that the nation remains fully prepared and vigilant to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and citizens. “Any act of aggression, direct or indirect, will be met with a swift, strong, and befitting response,” he said.

“Pakistan’s leadership must come out of its fantasy world, stop misleading its people, and focus on rebuilding its collapsing institutions instead of issuing empty threats,” he added.
