Srinagar, Mar 24: A local court convicted and sentenced retired tehsildar Mohammad Akram Khan to one year in simple imprisonment in a bribery case dating back to 2010.
Special Judge Tasleem Arief Ganie of the Anti-Corruption Court Srinagar found Khan guilty under Sections 5(1)(d) and 5(2) of the Jammu and Kashmir Prevention of Corruption Act, along with Section 161 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
According to an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) spokesperson, Khan, while serving as tehsildar, demanded and accepted a Rs 20,000 bribe from a complainant to settle a property dispute in their favor.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the accused.
