New Delhi, Dec 14: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday pledged that his party would rely on truth and non-violence to challenge and remove the “Narendra Modi–RSS government” from power.
Speaking at the Congress’s ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ rally at Ramlila Maidan, Gandhi sharply criticized the Election Commission, alleging that it was acting at the behest of the BJP. He named Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, claiming they were “working for the BJP” instead of ensuring a fair electoral process.
“We will stand with truth and remove the Narendra Modi–RSS government. They have power (‘satta’), but they are indulging in vote theft (‘vote chori’),” Gandhi said, accusing the ruling party of manipulating the system.
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha also alleged that the BJP distributed ₹10,000 during elections but the poll panel failed to act. “In this battle between truth and falsehood, the Election Commission is siding with the BJP government,” he charged.
Gandhi further attacked the prime minister, claiming that “Modi brought a new law to grant immunity to the Election Commission,” and vowed that the Congress would repeal the legislation and take action against election officials once in power.
“As Mahatma Gandhi taught us, truth and non-violence are the most powerful weapons,” he said. “It may take time, but truth will prevail — and we’ll use it to defeat Modi and Amit Shah.”
