Nagpur, April 16 : President Droupadi Murmu attended the valediction ceremony for the 78th batch of Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) Officer Trainees at the National Academy of Direct Taxes here today.
Addressing the trainees, the President highlighted the human element in tax collection, stating that “behind every Income Tax Return filed by a citizen lies a story of hard work, aspiration, and enterprise.” She emphasized that IRS officers’ role extends beyond mere legal compliance to ensuring dignity and fairness for all citizens, especially the underprivileged.
President Murmu’s remarks underscore the need for empathetic governance in revenue services amid ongoing efforts to simplify tax processes and broaden the base.
