In a post on X, Murmu described the Padma Bhushan awardee as an eminent artist whose works, including the Statue of Unity, symbolize India’s enduring heritage. She noted his creations will inspire future generations of artists,
Sutar, who passed away at 100 in his Noida residence late Wednesday, crafted the world’s tallest statue in Gujarat and the V D Savarkar statue at Cellular Jail in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Murmu extended condolences to his family and admirers.
