Leh, April 26 : Prayer ceremonies continued across Ladakh today as part of region‑wide spiritual preparations for the upcoming Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathagata Buddha. Under the aegis of the Ladakh Gonpa Association, a special prayer ceremony was held at Thupten Shaling Choskhor Monastery, Matho.
Around 25 to 30 monks gathered at the monastery, their chants echoing through the prayer hall as rituals were performed for peace, well‑being, and the successful conduct of the forthcoming exposition.
The sacred Piprahwa relics of Lord Buddha are scheduled to arrive in Ladakh on April 29, marking a rare and significant spiritual occasion. The main exposition will begin at Jivetsal, Leh, on May 2, with the relics remaining in Ladakh until May 14. During this period, the relics will also be taken to Zanskar, enabling devotees from different parts of the Union Territory to pay their respects.
Meanwhile, preparatory prayers will continue at other monasteries, with ceremonies lined up at Stakna on April 27, Thiksey on April 28, and Spituk on April 29.
