LEH: The second day of the “Clean Leh Mission 2026” campaign witnessed active participation from students across Leh, with poster-making competitions organised in several schools to promote awareness on cleanliness, waste management and environmental conservation.
The campaign, being conducted under the District Administration Leh and Chief Education Office Leh in coordination with the Municipal Committee Leh, continued on Wednesday with activities aimed at encouraging community awareness and civic responsibility among young students.
Competitions were held at Boys Higher Secondary School Leh, Higher Secondary School Housing Colony and other educational institutions within the municipal limits of Leh. Students participated enthusiastically, using paintings, sketches and thematic slogans to convey messages on sanitation, public hygiene and environmental protection.
The event provided students with a platform to creatively express their concerns regarding waste disposal, pollution and the need to preserve Leh’s fragile ecological balance. Several posters focused on sustainable living practices and collective public responsibility in maintaining clean surroundings.
Officials associated with the campaign said educational institutions play an important role in shaping awareness and behavioural change, particularly among younger generations. They noted that student-led participation can contribute substantially to long-term environmental consciousness in the region.
The “Clean Leh Mission 2026” campaign will continue in the coming days with essay writing and debate competitions, alongside other educational and community outreach programmes aimed at strengthening public participation in cleanliness and sustainable waste management initiatives across Leh district.
