Abagrong, Oct 09: The ICDS Project Kargil celebrated the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah at the Anganwadi Centre in Abagrong on Thursday, highlighting the importance of nutrition and healthy living. The event drew Anganwadi Workers, healthcare professionals, local coordinators, and parents from the Balti Bazar sector.
District Programme Officer ICDS Kargil, Nargis Banoo (KAS), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and underscored the need for consistent observance of Poshan Maah activities with active community participation. She called attention to proper hygiene, creation of APAAR and ABHA IDs, mainstreaming nutrition programs, and supporting the “Vocal for Local” initiative.
The celebration centered on combating obesity and reducing excessive consumption of sugar and oil, promoting balanced diets, physical activity, and mindful eating. Anganwadi Workers showcased locally available nutritious foods, encouraging families to adopt traditional and wholesome dietary practices.
CDPO ICDS Kargil Parveen Akhtar, along with Block Coordinators, Supervisors, and ANMs, participated in discussions aimed at raising awareness about healthy lifestyle choices and the role of nutrition in child and community development.
The event served as a platform to reinforce the ICDS Project’s commitment to improving nutrition, health, and well-being through community engagement and education.
