SRINAGAR, May 16: Police on Saturday carried out searches at multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district in connection with a UAPA case registered against the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), officials said.
The coordinated raids were conducted at over 15 locations, including Jamia Qadeem, Naseem Bagh, Krankshivan, Tarzoo, Amargarh, Warpora, Bomai and Boitingoo areas of Sopore in north Kashmir.
Officials said the searches were part of an ongoing investigation under FIR registered at Sopore police station under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
During the operation, incriminating material, including literature linked to the banned organisation, was seized and taken into custody for further scrutiny.
Authorities said the action was carried out after obtaining proper search warrants from the designated UAPA court and followed due legal procedure in the presence of executive magistrates and independent witnesses.
Police said the operation is part of continued efforts to identify and act against individuals and networks associated with banned organisations, and further investigation is underway.
