New Delhi: Authorities have detained the operator and staff of the ‘Tsunami’ swing ride following its catastrophic mid-air collapse at the Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Faridabad, which killed a police inspector and injured 13 others.
The incident unfolded Saturday evening around 6:15 PM when the high-speed ride—carrying 26 people—snapped, tilted, and crashed to the ground, trapping victims including on-duty Inspector Jagdish Prasad, who died heroically during rescue efforts. An FIR for culpable homicide has been filed, with a probe underway into mechanical failure, safety lapses, and permissions; forensics teams inspected the site.
Deputy Commissioner Ayush Sinha announced a committee to fix responsibility and prevent recurrences, as victims received treatment at local hospitals. Viral videos captured the horrifying moments, amplifying public outrage over fairground safety.
