PM’s Vision for ‘New India’ Driven by Youth Creativity, Cultural Pride: Ladakh LG

LEH: Youth creativity and cultural rootedness will steer India toward a confident and modern future under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “New India,” Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta said on Friday.

Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the State-Level Kala Utsav 2025, Gupta said the country’s progress rests on the imagination, skills and heritage upheld by its young generation.

He said Kala Utsav — a nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Education — strengthens the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat by celebrating diverse traditions and encouraging cultural unity across the Union Territory.

Calling the festival “a vibrant platform rather than a contest,” the LG noted that it enables students to explore identity, express creativity and remain connected to their roots. “Art connects us, inspires new ways of thinking and shapes our value system,” he said while complimenting Ladakh’s strong presence at national editions of the programme.

Gupta credited the achievements of Ladakhi students to the efforts of teachers, parents and the education fraternity. He said youth-led innovation, creativity and cultural pride form the backbone of India’s emerging creative economy.

“Prime Minister Modi believes that India’s true strength lies in its heritage and the energy of its youth. When children embrace creativity and culture, the nation moves closer to its global aspirations,” he remarked.

The LG said programmes like Kala Utsav complement the national goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and are contributing to a broader cultural resurgence. He expressed confidence that Ladakhi youth would continue to shine at national and international platforms.

Encouraging participants to uphold Ladakh’s values of simplicity, discipline and hard work, he reaffirmed the Administration’s support in expanding opportunities for artistic and academic growth. He later presented mementos and certificates to winners in 12 categories and interacted with students and mentors, including renowned Ladakhi singer Dorjey Stakmo and Kargil-based Rahula.

Earlier, Administrative Secretary School Education, Bhanu Prabha, informed that performers shortlisted at the district level showcased their talent at the state-level finale at DIET, and the best among them will represent Ladakh at the National Kala Utsav 2026 as cultural ambassadors.

Director School Education, Tashi Dolma, delivered the vote of thanks. Students from Mahabodhi Residential School Leh, Government School Garkon and PM SHRI High School Chumathang presented cultural performances.

Officials present included principals of DIET Leh and Kargil, Chief Education Officers, faculty members and students from various institutions.
