LEH: Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Haji Haneefa Jan, wrapped up a two-day tour of several villages in Leh district on Sunday, drawing a wide spectrum of public complaints ranging from incomplete road works to unresolved land compensation cases.
Residents of Stok, Matho, Chuchot Shamma, Gongma and Yokma submitted detailed memorandums through their Nambardars, pressing for action on pending PMGSY blacktopping projects and compensation for land and trees acquired during road construction. Many villagers also highlighted delays in flood relief for affected families and raised concerns over the land dispute linked to the proposed railway track.
During the second day of the tour, the MP reviewed infrastructure and health services at the Primary Health Centre in Chuchot Gongma and the newly constructed Mother & Child Health Centre. He also inspected the Higher Secondary School in Chuchot Shamma, where a hostel has been sanctioned, and interacted with players at the Martyr Zakir Hussain Tournament organised by the Youl-Dat Society.
Jan further examined the PM SHRI Inclusive Education Centre and the Residential Hostel for Children With Special Needs at Chuchot Yokma. A budget accommodation facility at the Imam Bargah was also assessed, where community members voiced additional concerns.
Addressing villagers, Jan said the outreach was aimed at direct engagement and ground-level assessment. He assured residents that issues would be prioritised based on urgency and public impact, adding that his office was working to address demands through prudent use of the MP Fund to ensure fair resource distribution across Ladakh.
The MP was accompanied by ADC Leh Ghulam Mohd (JKAS), ACD Leh A.G. Zargar, CMO Leh Dr. Dolma Chuskit, Director Tourism Padma Angmo, SE PMGSY and other departmental officers throughout the tour.
