Kolkata, Dec 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), branding the state’s governance as “maha jungle raj” marred by corruption, nepotism, and appeasement politics that have stalled development.
Addressing a large Parivartan Sankalpa Sabha gathering in Taherpur, Nadia district via phone from Kolkata—after dense fog prevented his helicopter landing—Modi called for a “double engine government” under BJP in the upcoming assembly elections to restore progress.
“Let TMC oppose me and BJP as much as they want, but they cannot hold people ransom or halt Bengal’s advancement,” Modi asserted. He accused the Mamata Banerjee-led party of resisting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise to shield infiltrators and prioritizing confrontation over public welfare.
Modi highlighted grassroots calls of “Banchte chai, BJP tai” (Need BJP to live) echoing across Bengal’s lanes, signaling a strong desire for freedom from TMC’s alleged misrule. He positioned BJP as the solution to end the prevailing lawlessness and unlock the state’s potential.
