New Delhi, February 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday led the nation in commemorating the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas, the revered 15th-century poet-saint known for his teachings on equality, devotion, and social justice.
In an emotive post on X, PM Modi offered “infinite salutations” to Ravidas, hailing him as “the unparalleled devotee of humanity” and “great saint Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji.” He underscored how the saint’s timeless thoughts on compassion and justice form the bedrock of the government’s welfare initiatives, including schemes aimed at uplifting the underprivileged.
“The lamp of social harmony and goodwill that he ignited will forever illuminate the path of the countrymen,” Modi added, reaffirming Ravidas’s enduring legacy in fostering unity and empathy across India.
Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated with fervor nationwide, especially in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, through prayers, processions, and community events. The PM’s tribute aligns with his frequent engagements with the saint’s legacy, including past visits to Varanasi’s Ravidas temple.
