The hydrogen train has been developed as part of efforts to introduce cleaner alternatives in the railway sector and reduce dependence on conventional fuels. The train is expected to operate on the Jind–Sonipat route, showcasing hydrogen fuel technology in Indian Railways.
The project is aimed at promoting environmentally friendly mobility solutions by reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency. The train has been designed and developed by Indian Railways with advanced technology focused on sustainable operations.
After the flag-off, the hydrogen-powered train is expected to undergo further operational activities, with maintenance facilities planned at Shakurbasti in Delhi.
The launch of the hydrogen train is being seen as a significant step towards achieving cleaner rail transport and strengthening India’s commitment to green energy initiatives.
