Addis Ababa, Dec 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a soulful Vande Mataram rendition by Ethiopian singers at a banquet “deeply moving,” especially amid the national song’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
Hosted by Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed Ali in Modi’s honor during his maiden visit, the event featured three singers delivering an emotional version that left the Indian delegation clapping enthusiastically with raised hands.
Sharing a video on X, Modi highlighted the poignant timing, noting India’s year-long commemoration of Vande Mataram’s legacy since its composition. The moment underscored cultural bonds during Modi’s four-day tour covering Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman.
