Zanskar, Apr 28 : A plantation and cleanliness drive, coupled with spirited inter-house volleyball matches, brought Government High School Karsha in Zanskar to life, as students and staff joined hands to promote environmental responsibility and active learning beyond classrooms.
Organised under the banner of the Youth Club and ECO Club, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty who undertook a comprehensive clean-up of the school campus and its surroundings. The initiative aimed at fostering awareness about sustainability while encouraging collective responsibility among young learners.
As part of the drive, saplings were planted across the campus to improve green cover, while flower beds were prepared and sown with a variety of seeds. The exercise not only enhanced the visual appeal of the school but also introduced students to basic gardening practices, reinforcing lessons in environmental stewardship.
The event was held under the Bagless School Day programme, allowing students to step outside routine academic schedules and engage in hands-on activities. The initiative underscored the value of experiential learning and the role of schools in shaping environmentally conscious citizens.
