Restrictions to be lifted in Phased Manner, chairs high-level review meet
Leh, Oct 01: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, Wednesday lauded the relentless efforts of security forces and the civil administration in restoring normalcy over the past week under challenging circumstances in Ladakh.
The Lt Governor expressed appreciation for the patience and cooperation shown by the people of Ladakh, further assuring that very soon all restrictions imposed as precautionary measures will be lifted in a phased manner once the situation fully stabilizes.
LG Gupta chaired a high-level review meeting to take stock of the prevailing law and order situation in the Union Territory. This is the fifth consecutive security review meeting chaired by the LG to assess and normalize the prevailing situation in the region.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr Pawan Kotwal, Director General of Police Dr S.D. Singh Jamwal, DIG Srinagar South P.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner Leh, Senior Superintendent of Police Leh, Sanjay Kumar, CO 79, Rajat Jain, CO 25, and other senior officials.
The officials briefed the Lt Governor on the latest security scenario and the measures undertaken to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Reviewing the welfare measures, Kavinder Gupta enquired about the condition of the remaining injured undergoing treatment at the government hospital. He directed the administration and hospital authorities to ensure the best possible medical care.
He further directed the Deputy Commissioner that, in cases where advanced medical treatment is required outside the UT, the administration must provide all possible humanitarian aid and financial support so that no individual faces hardship or feels neglected.
The Lt Governor lauded the relentless efforts of security forces and the civil administration in restoring normalcy over the past week under challenging circumstances. He also expressed appreciation for the patience and cooperation shown by the people of Ladakh.
Appealing to the citizens, the Lt Governor urged people not to pay heed to rumours or misinformation and assured them that peace and harmony will be safeguarded at all costs.
He emphasized that the administration, along with security forces, is fully committed to maintaining peace, law, and order across the Union Territory.
The Lt Governor further assured that very soon all restrictions imposed as precautionary measures will be lifted in a phased manner once the situation fully stabilizes.
“Peace and development are the top priorities of the administration. Together, with the cooperation of the people, Ladakh will continue on the path of progress,” he added.
Pertinent to mention here that the other day LG Gupta expressed deep appreciation for the courage and dedication displayed by the Security Forces in maintaining law and order under challenging circumstances.
“The well-being and security of every citizen is our foremost priority. The Administration is fully committed to ensuring peace, harmony, and inclusive development across Ladakh. I urge all sections of society to continue upholding the region’s rich tradition of brotherhood and unity. Together, with mutual trust and cooperation, we will build a peaceful and prosperous Ladakh where the aspirations of every individual are respected and fulfilled,” LG Gupta said.
The Lt Governor inquired about the condition of security personnel injured during the unfortunate incidents of violence on September 24.
It was informed that 105 security personnel including 57 CRPF personnel and over 48 police personnel sustained injuries while performing their duty at various location.
Kavinder Gupta assured that the injured personnel would receive the best possible medical treatment and directed the administration to extend full support to their families.
The Lt Governor directed the senior police officials to identify and take strict action against the miscreants responsible for disturbing peace.
No one involved in acts of violence will be spared. Law will take its firm course, and those trying to disrupt communal harmony will face stringent action, he stated.
