JAMMU, JUNE 20: More than 9,000 pilgrims, predominantly members of the Kashmiri Pandit community, set off from Jammu for the revered Kheer Bhawani Temple in Kashmir on Saturday to participate in the annual Kheer Bhawani Mela.
Officials said the pilgrims travelled to the Valley in around 200 buses operated by the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) under elaborate security arrangements.
With a significantly higher number of devotees participating this year, authorities expect a large turnout at the mela, one of the most important religious occasions for the Kashmiri Pandit community.
