Jammu, Dec 20: More than fifty workers of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday joined Shiv Sena during a party programme held at Brariangan in the Uttarsoo area of Anantnag district marking a fresh expansion of the organisation in south Kashmir.
The joining programme was organised under the supervision of local party functionaries and was attended by senior leaders of Shiv Sena from the Kashmir division and Anantnag district. Those present included Umar Yaqoob, Fayaz Malik, Khurshid Ahmad, Ghulam Mohammad and Innam Gul.
Senior party leaders Ashok Kumar and Sanjay Bhat addressed the gathering through video conferencing from outside the Union Territory. In his address Ashok Kumar said the party continues to motivate citizens to take part in nation building by working at the grassroots and serving society through collective effort. He urged workers to stay connected with people at the booth level and to promote awareness about welfare schemes and public oriented initiatives of the government.
Sanjay Bhat, while welcoming the new entrants, said Shiv Sena workers draw inspiration from the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray and carry the responsibility of taking those principles to every part of Jammu and Kashmir. He also referred to the leadership of Eknath Shinde and Anand Dighe and stressed that party workers must remain disciplined and people centric in their political conduct.
Addressing the gathering Umar Yaqoob expressed satisfaction over the steady growth of Shiv Sena across the Kashmir division and said that almost all districts of the Valley were witnessing increased participation. Fayaz Malik appealed to the new members to work for social upliftment and public welfare, while Khurshid Ahmad called upon party workers to act as a bridge between the people and the administration by highlighting genuine public issues for timely redressal.
The newly inducted members thanked the party leadership for welcoming them into the organisation and said they looked forward to serving the people of the region through their association with Shiv Sena.
