Dubai, Feb 28: The United Arab Emirates has reported that one person has been killed from falling shrapnel after an Iranian missile attack, amid a wave of retaliatory strikes across the Persian Gulf following Israeli–US operations inside Iran.
The UAE state news agency said several Iranian missiles targeting the country were intercepted over Abu Dhabi but fragments from the downed projectiles fell on the ground, claiming at least one life. The incident has prompted tightened security measures, with the UAE condemning the missile launch as a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and international law, and warning of a right to respond to the escalation.
The casualty in Abu Dhabi adds to regional alarm after Iran launched missiles at multiple US military bases and Gulf states, including Bahrain’s US Navy 5th Fleet headquarters, as the Israel–Iran–US confrontation threatens to spiral into a wider Middle East conflict.
